“Can we get some images of our newborn and his brothers?” Absolutely! When Mathew’s mom first contacted me, she told me that she wanted to do something different and special for her third child, which was to have the family’s first newborn portrait session. She also wanted to have some images of her newborn with his brothers.
I got to meet Matthew when he was just 5 days old. During the session, his two brothers were very cooperative. They stayed in their rooms and allowed us to photograph Matthew in a quite environment. Matthew was a dream to work with. He slept through almost the entire session (except for the times he was hungry, of course) and enabled me to photograph him with different props. Actually, it turned out that his 4 year old big brother, Joshua, was more of a challenge to photograph than Mathew. =)
I was so excited to get a siblings shot of the three of them until the mom told me how much Joshua HATES getting his picture taken and receiving attention. OMG…. I sweated for a second, but I decided to enjoy the new challenge. When I asked, “Who wants to hold Matthew?” to the brothers, they both raised their hands and said, “I DO! I DO!!” with such excitement. I normally ask the oldest sibling to hold the baby due to safety reasons, however, since Joshua seemed to be more excited and as his parents were okay with him holding Matthew, we let Joshua hold him with his parents’ supervision. I was very touched when his older brother, Nathan, let Joshua have the honor of holding Mathew. Everything seemed to be fine until I held my camera. Joshua started to look shy and didn’t want to look at the camera and he left! But no pressure….I let him leave the room and take a little time to relax. When he came back, he didn’t want to be photographed again……. no pressure… I let him leave the room again….. We repeated this a few times and ta-da~!! I was able to capture the portraits with him smiling, which made his parents extremely overjoyed that they ordered that image in a large wall print! Aren’t they adorable together? I was so happy with these images. They truly make my heart smile.
Thank you so much, ‘G’ family for allowing me to photograph your new little one! It was a pleasure meeting you all and photographing your handsome boys.
Accordion Mini Books
The parents also ordered these personalized and custom made Accordion Mini Books, which are a great way to show off your favorite pics from the session. They are available in a wallet- size and a square (3×3 inches) and they come with a custom photo cover (a UV coating is added) and a sheer case. I love how the cover conveniently snaps shut magnetically! Accordion Mini Books are the perfect gift item for your family and friends. Parents and grandparents love to receive them as gifts too! This is a great add-on item with any order!
