Newborn Photography: When It All Began
It all started in 2010. Charlie was my only (fur) baby, and he was the sweetest puppy. Because of him, I became very interested in pet photography. I eventually upgraded my camera, lenses and bought studio lights with the intention of photographing others with their pets. I attended a photography school, so that I could learn all of the techniques and hone my craft.
I volunteered at Baldwin Park Animal Care Center, an animal shelter, and photographed various types of dogs to help them find their forever homes. This valuable experience allowed me to capture my clients' family portraits, including dogs today!
Why Newborn Photography?
While I was a student, I photographed a wedding and the bride was pregnant. She asked me if I would photograph her baby when the little bundle of joy arrived. That same day, I went home and immediately began searching for newborn photography workshops.
Since then I have invested time and effort to learn as much as possible about newborn photography by taking in-person workshops and online courses with the top maternity and newborn photography instructors in the nation. I also attend various photography conferences annually to maintain and continue learning new knowledge and skills in the industry.
When I’m not working in my photography studio with parents and their little bundles of joy, you can usually find me creating a succulent garden (Echeveria 'Lola' and Moonstone are my favorites!), walking our dog on the trail with my kids, and figuring out what else I can cook with my Instant Pot and Air Fryer. I love Konmari method and believe in less stuff, less work, less expensive = more money, more time, more joy.
Of course, I love photography! During photo sessions with my clients, I love being creative. It’s my honor to capture newborns in their first two weeks of life. That time goes by so quickly!
